OMNILUX LIGHT THERAPY

Omnilux light therapy is non-invasive, non-ablative, and safe for patients. It is a new technology based on narrowband Light Emitting Diodes (LEDs), developed after 12 years of extensive medical research.

The Omnilux range of services provided by Uvasun include Omnilux revive, Omnilux blue, and Omnilux plus for the treatment of a wide range of dermatological conditions including, acne, photodamage, skin rejuvenation, vitiligo and wound healing post elective surgery.

Each detachable treatment head delivers pure, optimised, narrowband light via a matrix of LEDs carefully positioned to deliver the correct dose of light to the treatment area.

Omnilux stimulates cells athermally without causing damage to the epidermis or dermal tissue, therefore there is no downtime for patients or unwanted side effects* (e.g. erythema, peeling or blistering) as may result from use of a laser or other products.

OMNILUX REVIVE

Omnilux revive can be used for skin rejuvenation or in combination with Omnilux blue for acne or in combination with Omnilux plus for wound healing. Omnilux revive at 633nm is proven to stimulate cellular mechanisms responsible for tissue repair and regeneration.

Omnilux systems ensure that the right light dose is always delivered to the tissue, the right wavelength is always used to successfully activate the target cells or light reactive substrates and the right intensity is always used to prevent inefficient tissue response. The adjustable LED panels mean that the whole treatment area can be bathed in pure red light to maximize treatment outcome.

OMNILUX BLUE

Omnilux blue is based on a matrix of LEDs, which provide narrowband visible light. The individual LED cone angle and the spacing of the LEDs ensure uniformity of the beam for full coverage of the treatment area.

The high spectral purity also means that no UV, IR or inappropriate visible radiation is delivered, increasing both the precision and effectiveness of the treatment. Ten years of research regarding light sources ensures that all criteria for optimized efficacy of treatment are covered i.e. treatment time, intensity and wavelengths that activate relevant absorption spectra.

Omnilux blue has been specifically developed to target the naturally occurring photosensitiser, Coproporphyrin III, found in P.acnes bacteria. Omnilux blue is the most potent blue light source in activating the target photosensitiser, producing singlet oxygen that leads to rapid eradication of the P.acnes bacteria. The output of Omnilux blue is also optimized to activate the photosensitiser 5-aminolaevulinic acid and is therefore ideally suited for the treatment of Actinic keratosis.

The user can control the area of illumination and can shape the light to the contour of the treatment area. Only this way can the entire treatment area receive the required dose of light for effective therapy.

OMNILUX PLUS

Omnilux plus is based on a matrix of Infra Red LEDs, which provide narrowband 830nm light. The individual LED cone angle and the spacing of the LEDs ensure uniformity of the beam for full coverage of the treatment area. For safety reasons, single LEDs of visible yellow light are located in the four corners of each array in order to determine if the head is lit.

Omnilux plus is used for the purpose of skin rejuvenation in combination with Omnilux revive and also for wound healing. Current research is concentrating on its use for the temporary relief of minor muscle and joint pain, arthritis, muscle spasm, relieving stiffness, promoting the relaxation of muscle tissue, and to temporarily increase local blood circulation where applied.

THE SCIENCE BEHIND OMNILUX

The Effects of 633nm

Studies by leading researchers show that when exposed to light waves of precisely 633 nanometers, skin cells are naturally stimulated and a number of biochemical events follow. The first is the production of collagen, elastin and certain enzymes that are imperative to the skins supportive structure.

The vascular walls of the skin's small blood vessels are also strengthened and result in improved oxygenation and detoxification of the skin. Hydration is increased and the ability of the skin to retain moisture improves. Increased cellular activity, improved natural repair, and creation of healthy skin conditions more conducive to cell regeneration also follows.

Another important effect of 633 nanometer light absorption by cells is that it induces significant changes in the permeability of the cellular membrane, making it easier for important active ingredients in topical skin care products to pass through the walls of the cell. When delivered efficiently within a tight, narrowband at precisely 633 nanometers, pure red light can improve skin clarity, tone and texture and minimizes the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles while reversing the effects of sun damage and chronological aging.

Research & Development

Years of study into the effects of specific wavelengths of light on the human body have yielded compelling evidence of the merits of LED Photon Absorption Therapy for a variety of applications.

Many of the most exciting discoveries have been specific to pure, narrow-band red light of 633 nanometers in wavelength.
